Day 8 - Calais, ME to St. John, NB

It was a beautiful day for crossing the border.
We entered a new time zone.
And a new country
The Route
We traveled 111 miles today. We headed north on ME-9 to its end at the St. Stephen border crossing, then east on NB-1 to St. John. We took a side trip via NB-127 to St. Andrews on the way to St. John.

We’re camped at Hardings Landing. We got there by going north on NB-7 from St. John to NB-177, and then north on NB-177 to Hardings Landing.

Stuff of Note
We experienced déjà vu when we drove through Calais last night. We confirmed it when we stopped at Karen’s Main Street Diner for breakfast this morning. We stopped here in 2012 during our northeast trip.
Karen's was familiar.
Breakfast was OK.

This was the day for New Brunswick’s annual holiday (the 1st Monday of August). Most businesses were closed. We saw many celebrations as we passed through St. Stephen and St Andrews. St. Andrews is a very pretty, high-end resort area.

Hardings Landing Campground is nice and fun to get to. We had to take a free ferry ride to get to the campground. We’ll stay here a few days.

Tomorrow
We’re going to observe the effects of the Bay of Fundy tides.
