Today
was sunny and mild. It was a good day for a 242 mile drive into Quebec.
The
Route
North
on TCH-2 from Woodstock to the Quebec border, then TCH-185 to TCH-20 at Riviere-du-Loup
on the St. Lawrence River, and finally southwest on TCH-20 a short way to exit
488 where we exited onto a scenic route (QC-132) and followed the river until
we stopped for the night.
Observations
New
Brunswick continued to offer beautiful scenery. It became more mountainous as
we approached Quebec.
The
small towns along the way proudly announced their importance. Florenceville-Bristol,
for example, let us know that it’s the “French Fry Capital of the World”. A bit
of research revealed that the town of around 1,650 bases the claim on the fact
that McCain Foods’ (the largest
producer of French fries in the world) corporate headquarters is there.
TCH-185
in Quebec is one of our least favorite highways. The surface is really rough.
We couldn’t travel the speed limit much of the time. However, it did offer some
beautiful scenery.
We struggle with the French language. Fortunately, the French-speakers up here are considerate.
Say What? |
QC-132
follows the St. Lawrence River from Riviere-du-Loup to Quebec City. It provided
beautiful glimpses of the river, small old villages and farms.

The
Campground
Carol
spotted Camping des Aulnaies as we
drove along QC-132. We were heading for another campground and turned around to
stay in this dandy place. It’s attractive, well run, loaded with services, and
economical.

Tomorrow
We’ll
continue southwest along the river.
Are you going to stay in Canada the whole trip, or are you going to cross over to NY so that you can revisit Morristown?
ReplyDeleteWe're staying in Canada until we get to Vancouver. Unfortunately, Morristown memories are from a long time ago.
