Day 14 - Harrington, PE (Day 4)

This looks like an all day, rainy day Sunday. We don't expect much (if any) sightseeing.

However, we set off into overcast and drizzle around 10am. The day teased us with sun from time-to-time and offered up far more than we expected.

We traveled 169 miles while exploring the northeast coast.

The Route
We drove portions of the Points East Coastal Drive. The route took us eastward along the northern shore from Brackley Beach through Stanhope, St. Peters, and Naufrage to East Point (the northeastern-most point on PEI).

The Weather
The temperature stayed in the mid to high-60s. It was overcast most of the day and showered on and off. The sun broke through briefly around mid-day. A strong southeasterly wind came from the gulf.

Did You Know?
North Lake is “the tuna capital of the world”.

The high prow/low stern fishing boat used here is a Cape Islander, often referred to as a "Novi" boat.

PEI's population was 145,211 (as of January 1, 2014)

PEI is
  - 139.2 miles long
  - 3.7 to 39.8 miles wide
  - the smallest province
  - the most developed and densely populated province

PEI is called the Garden Province because half of the land is cultivated ... we call it the Postcard Province.

Observations
We enjoyed today’s drive over the others because we got sunshine when we least expected it, we were along the coast for longer periods of time, and the country seemed more remote.
