Day 11 - Hopewell Cape, NB to Harrington, PE

We traveled 148 miles and stopped at the Pine Hills RV Park on Prince Edward Island today.

The Route
North on NB-114 to NB-106 in Moncton, east on NB-106 to TCH-2, southeast on TCH-2 to TCH-16 near Sackville, north on TCH-16 across the Confederation Bridge to PEI, then east on TCH-1 to Charlottestown, and PE-15 north to Harrington.

TCH = Trans-Canada Highway

Comments, Notes and Observations
NB-114 runs along the Chocolate River between Hopewell Cape and Moncton. We drove that route today. The "call of chocolate" was very strong for Carol, but we didn't get any (yet).

We crossed the Northumberland Strait on the Confederation Bridge. The bridge is 8 miles long and has a clever toll policy. The drive to PEI is free; you only pay to get off the island.

Our first impressions of PEI are extremely positive. The countryside and villages are neat and clean. Yards and fields look manicured. The residents are friendly, helpful and laid-back. We have yet to see a police or RCMP officer.

We had a problem with a camera memory card and lost all of the pictures from early in the day.

Pine Hills RV Park
Carol hit another home run with her trusty campground directory. Pine Hills is attractive, has nice facilities and excellent staff.

Tomorrow
We're planning to start a 2 to 3 day driving tour of PEI.
