Day 50 – Dundee, OR to Portland, OR

Today was moving day. The trip was all of 32 miles … obviously an easy drive. The getting out and getting in was another matter.

Morning Assignment
We needed to pick Lucy up at day care at 11:30 before we could start repacking the car and connecting the trailer. The timing worked out well. Kenny returned home with William shortly after we got back.

The Getting Out
The connecting steps went as expected. The pulling out of our parking space was a challenge. Our site was down a steep incline from the main drive. Pulling in was a piece of cake ... all downhill. Today we had to go up on loose gravel and make a sharp turn onto the drive. We made it up on the 2nd try, but couldn’t make the turn. Plan B was to go back down though our site, across a grassy field and out through an access to the road. It worked!
This is where we were.
Coming out the back way.

The Getting In
Our new parking location is totally different from the rural campsite we just left. We’re in the city, parked on a residential street and have no utilities. We parked the trailer off the road as much as possible, moved our clothes and refrigerator items into Tim & Elizabeth’s home and shut down all the systems. We were kind of camping, now we’re settled in nicely as plain old house guests.

Surprise Visit
We were hoping to see Eric Witchey (author and teacher extraordinaire) during our time here. He returned from a business trip just today and is stopping by on his way home. Cool timing!
